the script that creates a new project does not set g+w for the project home directory, and therefore only the project owner can touch the project root.
this may or may not be intentional. if it happens to be not intentional then it would be helpful to set g+w on project homes, possibly even on existing ones.
i may have not considered all the consequences of such a change, so if it's silly just ignore me.

This is presently intentional but I'm happy to adjust it on an as-needed basis. If more people request this we'll change the script.
