Hi! Bordeaux-threads issues

Hi, can somebody take a look at the Bordeaux-threads support for ABCL? The test suite hangs on Travis-CI.org during automatic tests so I guess there's something wrong there. Hello list, I'm working on getting ABCL + the Jetty <http://www.eclipse.org/jetty> web server + SLIME working together as a development environment for Google App Engine web apps[1]. This seems to be what the Clojure people have done <http://www.hackers-with-attitude.com/2009/08/intertactive-programming-with-…>: run your own Jetty server & SWANK server, then load the GAE JARs to provide the same emulated services as the GAE SDK's development server. I've been working through the "Embedding Jetty" tutorials[2] and making reasonable progress (with help from Mark Evenson and others on #abcl - thanks Mark!). I've been doing it all in Lisp (so far), making my own servlet classes using JNEW-RUNTIME-CLASS. Ideally I'd like to make an ABCL library equivalent to (a subset of) Compojure <https://github.com/weavejester/compojure> (and appengine-magic <https://github.com/gcv/appengine-magic>). Some of the tutorials have code like: context.addServlet(HelloServlet.class, "/"); Is it possible to get Class objects for Java classes I've made with JNEW-RUNTIME-CLASS (or indeed for any other Java class)? I've been using "raw" JCLASS & JMETHOD etc. calls to experience just how painful that really is, but I'm apprehensive about using JSS <http://abcl.org/trac/browser/trunk/abcl/contrib/jss/README.markdown> and paying the runtime dynamic dispatch penalty, given that on GAE time is money. Something more like a SLIME plug-in that looked up & cached classes, methods & fields at editing time (perhaps also parsing Java expressions) and generated "statically typed" code would be nice (possibly using code from e.g. JDEE <http://emacswiki.org/emacs/JavaDevelopmentEnvironment> and/or CEDET <http://cedet.sourceforge.net/>) - has anyone else thought about this? Licensing Issues

Hello, I am using ABCL to run lisp files in my Java code. ABCL is covered by the GNU General Public License with Classpath exception, meaning that you can use ABCL in your application without the requirement to open the sources to your application. So, I conclude the GNU GPL is not going to effect the license of my Java Code, BUT, what about the lisp code I load using ABCL? Would it have to be released under GNU GPL ? Regards, Hamda

Create Instance throws exception when Java Project located on network drive

If the java project that is using ABCL is located on a network drive, Method Create isntance throws this exception: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ClassCastException: org.armedbear.lisp.Nil cannot be cast to org.armedbear.lisp.Pathname at org.armedbear.lisp.Load.loadSystemFile(Load.java:329) at org.armedbear.lisp.Interpreter.initializeLisp(Interpreter.java:172) at org.armedbear.lisp.Interpreter.createInstance(Interpreter.java:72) ....... I believe this has something to do with the the path. (path \\fs2\14233205\NetBeansProjects\HamdaBinteAjmal-interface- 1ed1d2022f90 ) Please note that both the abcl.jar and the java project are located on a network drive. Anyway to resolve this? Hi armed bears, I'm getting a DependencyCollectionException from org.eclipse.aether.internal.impl.DefaultRepositorySystem: "failed to read artifact descriptor for net.java.dev.jna:jna:jar:4.1.0". This is ABCL 1.3.2, JDK 1.8.0_40, on Linux. ... I just tried JDK 1.7.0_71 and 1.6.0_25, and they both fail the same way. Any ideas? -- Scott

[Patch] Add name to "no breaking space" character

Hi, when trying to load spinneret <https://github.com/ruricolist/spinneret> on ABCL it would fail as ABCL does not recognize the character #\No-break_space <https://github.com/ruricolist/spinneret/blob/master/syntax.lisp#L37>. The character in question is named #\_. This patch adds a human readable name, #\No-break_space, which is used in sbcl, ccl and clisp, and permits spinneret to load. Running embedded ABCL in J on Windows

I'm sure that this is a common question, so please feel free to tell me to RTFM as long as you point me to the right place in the M. I have downloaded and can separately run ABCL and J on my Win7 box, but I don't know how to tell J where ABCL is in order to run either the embedded or along-the-side ABCL from J. Can someone tell me how to do this in a Win7 env? Thanks, 'Jeff
