I believe that is correct.  I think that on at least one of these
platforms, it is customary to rewrite

"**;*.*.*" to "**/*.*"

to ensure that the version field is thrown away.

my experience to date has been that it was more reliable to duplicate the rules.
it would be nice to be in a position to test it exhaustively. soon.
