Dear Boston Lispers,
I'll be briefly in Cambridge this Thursday March 30th.
Is anyone interested in a Boston Lisp Meeting?
If one of you can get a speaking venue at the last minute, I could present a version of the ASDF 3.3 talk I'll be presenting at ELS 2017 https://github.com/fare/asdf2017 or maybe a version of the Evolutionism talk I'll be presenting at SDR https://github.com/fare/evo2017 (or both?).
Otherwise we could just have food at a local restaurant. Mary Chung's? Some Indian place? Say at 1830?

I'm definitely interested, even if it's just meeting a few people over food. I'd prefer Indian over Chinese, but either way (or something else entirely) works.

Likewise.
Indian or Mary's is fine with me.

I will be interested for attending also. Will keep an eye here for the details.

Yes, please. Even a simple classroom. I can't imagine more than 10-30 people coming max.

Thanks to GJS and Jonathan Rees, we will meet at the MIT building 32 (Stata Center) in the Star Room (32-D463) where we met many times in the past, from 6 to 8 this Thursday March 30th. Afterwards, we will walk to a restaurant, either Mary Chung or some Indian restaurant.
I will present my work on ASDF 3.3 (same talk that I will give at ELS 2017 next Monday in Brussels) and if there is time and interest, I will also give my talk on Creationism and Evolutionism in Computing (talk I will give at SDR 2017 next Tuesday also in Brussels, in colocation with Programming).

Hey Fare!
I don't live in Mass anymore (I don't live in the US anymore, actually) but I'd love to see both sets of slides/papers/notes if you don't mind sharing.

I would like to come, but meeting at MIT to then walk back to Mary is a bit out of the way for me. Also, I highly prefer the Indian Palace location at Central Square.
Once you clarify location, could you let me know? 781-439-5939 if I don't react to electronics.

I think the intended place is India Pavilion in Central Square - not India Palace in Union Square. Are you at India Pavilion?
Some of us are hanging out at Stata enjoying a substitute presentation; we thought dinner was still at 8:30. We should be able to move that a bit earlier though.

I'm at Indian Palace awaiting other Lispers.

My sincere apologies for the trouble.
I should have left NYC hours earlier than I did :-( Or taken a train or plane, instead of the road. Sigh.

Sorry to hear that.
All: I’ll be in the room at 6 & will work there if no one else is around. I think the doors will be unlocked, but if not, text or phone me at the number found here: https://mumble.net/~jar/tmp/deleteme.html Use duckduckgo to find directions to Star.

TIME CHANGE! The meeting will start at 1900.
I left NYC too late and won't be on time for 1800.

For those curious, here is my (outdated and frankly in need of rewriting) write-up of the miniature talk I gave last week at the Boston Lisp meeting on how to generate a floating-point number in [0,1] uniformly at random:
https://mumble.net/~campbell/2014/04/28/uniform-random-float
Some C code implementing the idea:
https://mumble.net/~campbell/2014/04/28/random_real.c
Some JavaScript code implementing the idea, slightly simplified, and without requiring 64-bit integer arithmetic:
