[cdr-discuss] Various extensions proposed by vendors

Hi I just got the periodic newsletter from Franz and there is an interesting (and very useful) function defined that I have been using, with different name and slightly different semantics: READ- LINE-INTO. I would propose to publish it as a CDR, if the folks at Franz agree. Note that, AFAIU, a portable implementation is not quite possible. Cheers -- Marco

I'd second the motion: (unnecessary) consing == bad. On Dec 15, 2006, at 7:21 AM, Marco Antoniotti (temporaneo) wrote:

Sorry: here is the url http://www.franz.com/support/documentation/8.0/doc/operators/excl/ read-line-into.htm Broken link? "The request for http://www.franz.com/support/documentation/8.0/doc/operators/excl/ was not found on this server." -n

Looks like a line break problem. The full URL -- including read-line- into.htm -- works for me. On Dec 15, 2006, at 12:46 PM, Nick Levine wrote:

This sounds like a good idea. However, note that we in our role as cdr editors do not take any actions in this regard. The cdr editors may submit documents as members of the Common Lisp community, but only for documents that they actually back personally, or in roles other than that of cdr editors. So if you would like to see this submitted as a CDR, you should either do this yourself, or convince someone to do this.
