Having been away from CFFI for several months, I thought I'd ask: what happened to callback-lambda? James Bielman implemented an interim solution, but it never made its way into mainline CFFI and I think has bitrotted by now. Any particular reason why? As for me, a working callback-lambda under SBCL (and later ECL) would be a MAJOR win. Even more so if I could avoid memory leaks by being able to delete callbacks when they're no longer needed. --J.

Hi, Here is a trivial patch to enable 64 bits types on a recent CLISP version (newer than 2.38). I tested the latest CVS version, on Linux 2.6 x86-32. All the tests pass. Our implementation can compile files with almost any kind of lisp object thanks to some patches contributed by Brian Spilsbury. I just "darc pull"'ed the latest sources from http://common-lisp.net/project/cffi/darcs/cffi and built it without problems. Indeed there are people using CFFI on ECL since a long time ago. See below how I build a single DLL for CFFI using a trick which is proper to our implementation. [cffi-devel] cffi-uffi-compat library searching

I am using cffi-uffi-compat with clsql recently... ended up doing so because I need :long-long for sqlserver bigints. However, in trying to get it to work, I found a problem with the way it searches for libraries to load. If you just tell it to load libodbc.so, at least on sbcl the underlying functionality is capable of searching the default library paths to find it. CFFI was shortcutting that and not calling the next function if probe-file failed. Now it only does the probing if it is a full path and not just the filename. This also matches the behavior of UFFI, which is probably a good thing for cffi-uffi-compat. Nathan Bird

[cffi-devel] corrupted foreign structure testcase with latest CFFI and LW 4.4.6

I've run into a problem where populating a foreign structure and then passing it to a foreign function behaves correctly if my Lisp code is interpreted, but the structure fields appear to be corrupted if my function is compiled. This is with CFFI versions later than 0.9.0, and on LW 4.4.6 under WinXP. When I invoke the dump-it function in interpreted mode, the output file contains the expected result: cbSize: 4 style: 01abcdef When I (compile 'dump-it) and then invoke it, the output file contains garbage: cbSize: -1412567292 style: 01abcd01 This testcase works fine with the same LW version but CFFI 0.9.0. It also works fine with CLISP 2.38 and latest CFFI. CFFI versions 0.9.1, 060514, and a build produced from a darcs pull today all show the problem on LW. I haven't tried bisecting any further. See attached testcase.lisp and structs.c. I've also attached a simple Makefile for compiling with gcc. The foreign function dump_blah writes a file called 'dump_output.txt' in the current working directory. -- Jack Unrue
