No, I wasn't having problems starting another plot (I should have worded my e-mail more carefully). I was wondering about the significance of the error message -- your response sums things up pretty well. The cl-plplot package works like a charm - thanks for making it available.

Ok. For what it is worth, the actual error message from the PLplot library is inside the () brackets, i.e. "Too many tries.", the rest is just cl-plplot wrapper. That particular message seems to come from (1) PLplot trying and failing to open a file or (2) The user failing to properly enter a integer / number when prompted for one at the command line.

Is there a quick way to get the ball rolling again if one encounters the error below? The plplot documentation suggests that calling c-plend (or c-plend1) should clean things up but they don't seem to do much.
PLplot error encountered (Too many tries.). The current plotting stream is likely corrupted. [Condition of type SIMPLE-ERROR]
Once you've hit this message you pretty much have to write off the current plot. Are you having problems starting another plot? If you have a test case I'd be happy to take a look.
Thanks for any suggestions/help,
Alan
PS It's probably worth noting that this is my first encounter with CFFI stuff and (from the lack of messages on this mailing list...) I'm guessing I'm missing something relatively straightforward...
Actually, you are the first person to write to this list.
