[cl-ppcre-devel] I can't install CL-UNICODE

To: cl-ppcre-devel members Hi I'm Hiroshi. I want to use CL-EMB on sbcl. But in the installation, I get error for CL-UNICODE. I have been installed correctly last year. May be beginning of December is OK. In these days, this problem occured. [environment] * Ubuntu Linux 10.04 lucid * SBCL 1.0.29.11.debian [procedure] $rm -rf .sbcl $sbcl (require :asdf) (require :asdf-install) (asdf-install:install :cl-unicode) choose "Personal installation" choose [SKIP-GPG-CHECK] for cl-unicode choose [SKIP-GPG-CHECK] again for cl-ppcre Then this message appears. ================================================================= debugger invoked on a SB-INT:SIMPLE-FILE-ERROR in thread #<THREAD "initial thread" RUNNING {AA5E589}>: failed to find the WRITE-DATE of /home/test/.sbcl/site/cl-unicode-0.1.1/lists.lisp: No such file or directory Type HELP for debugger help, or (SB-EXT:QUIT) to exit from SBCL. restarts (invokable by number or by possibly-abbreviated name): 0: [RETRY] Retry installation 1: Retry installation 2: [ABORT] Exit debugger, returning to top level. So I copied "lists.lisp" to /home/test/.sbcl/site/cl-unicode-0.1.1/ Do above process (except for rm) again. Then installation have finished correctly. How can I install CL-UNICODE without copy lists.lisp? Or why this problem occurs. I don't know that asking here is correct or not. But I don't know well about lisp communities. Sincerely, Hiroshi

[I CC just in case the ECL mailing list provides me a better answer] In polishing the upcoming ECL release I discovered that there are two problems when trying to compile cl-unicode. One is due to a bug in ECL, the other one is due to what I believe an error in CL-UNICODE. More precisely, in build/dump.lisp I find (with-output-to-source-file (out (make-pathname :name "derived-properties" :type :unspecific :directory '(:relative :up "test")) :no-header-p t) As far as I know, :UNSPECIFIC is reserved for values that do not make sense for a filesystem, but in this particular case what happens is that the file does not have a file extension, not that extensions (types) do not exist at all. The consequence is that this lisp form creates an unprintable pathname (one which cannot be written "readably"), both in ECL and CLISP, and ECL righteously complains that this file can not be opened. I believe the appropriate line should be ":type nil", which works on SBCL, CLISP and ECL, AFAIK. Am I wrong? A heavily compiled form of (ppcre:scan "foobar' "quux") was giving sequence bounds errors. I tracked it down to a call to SEARCH, which PPCRE passed start2 > end2 arguments. Patch included. - Red

Is it possible to prioritise matches by the order of the alternatives? This demonstrates what I want to do: (cl-ppcre::scan-to-strings "super(man|dog|girl|woman|boy)" "this is the story of superboy and superman.") This matches "superboy" because it matches the first "super" and then tries each of the ORs until it finds "boy". What I want it to do is match according to the priority I've specified in the OR list. For example, if it finds a "superman" anywhere in the target-string it should match that before trying "superdog" etc. I know I could do this with a bit of Lisp code, but if it's possible to keep it all in the regexp I'd prefer to do that.
