I have a lisp image that I load with detachtty. What I do is call sb-ext:save-lisp-and-die and then reload the image with detachtty.
I don't have any other lisps installed.  I can only refer to Jens who tried it with LispWorks on Mac. When I have a chance I'll check it with CLisp.

I don't understand.  What do you mean when you say "reloaded the
image"?  Could you provide a detailed explanation of what you've done?
Can you check if this works differently for other Lisps like
LispWorks?
