CMUCL Release 20e has been tagged and binaries will be uploaded soon. To build this, use boot-20e.lisp to bootstrap from the 2013-09 snapshot. [cmucl-announce] CMUCL 20d released

CMUCL 20d has been released. It is functionally identical to the 2012-10 snapshot. Binaries will be uploaded shortly, and the website updated soon. With this release, there will NOT be a 2012-11 snapshot. Also, this release marks the end of support 8-bit characters; only Unicode will be supported from now on. Support for x87 will remain, however. Hope this release is useful to you. Ray

[cmucl-announce] Git repo for cmucl

Cmucl is now officially moving to git. The CVS repo will be turned off soon, and, in fact, should no longer be used at all. The repo will still be available for historical reasons, but no new code should be checked in to it. We had planned on moving to git almost a year ago, but for various reasons never got around to it until now. Additional information will be placed on cmucl's trac wiki, but for now, you can view the repo using trac (coming soon to http://trac.common-lisp.net/cmucl/browser) or directly at <http://common-lisp.net/gitweb?p=projects/cmucl/cmucl.git;a=summary;js=1> For now you can clone the repo using git clone git://common-lisp.net/projects/cmucl/cmucl.git src or for developers git clone ssh://<user>@common-lisp.net/var/git/projects/cmucl/cmucl.git src There is a minor issue to be taken care of: What to do with the RCS keywords that are in all of the files. I rather like seeing that information when you describe something. (Mostly to see when the file was last modified.) Ray

Well, that didn't last long. I've discovered a bug in REALPART and IMAGPART for x86/sse2 builds. Here is an example of the bug: (defun zot-r (z) (declare (type (simple-array (complex double-float) (*)) z)) (realpart (aref z 0))) (compile 'zot-r) (let ((z (make-array 1 :element-type '(complex double-float) :initial-element #c(42d0 -42d0)))) (zot-r z)) This returns 0d0 instead of 42d0. If you replace realpart with imagpart, you also get 0d0 instead of -42d0. This has been fixed in 2010-11 snapshot. For 20b, you can find a patch for this at <http://common-lisp.net/project/cmucl/downloads/release/20b/patches/cmucl-20…> As usual, download this patch, untar it somewhere. Load cmucl-20b-patch-000.asd, and (asdf:oos 'asdf:load-op :cmucl-20b-patch-000). (Alternatively, you can untar it somewhere where asdf can find the patch-000.asd file.) Sorry for the trouble, Ray

We are pleased to announce the release of CMUCL 20b. The key changes in this release are: o www.cmucl.org is a mirror of the CMUCL website at www.cons.org/cmucl. (Thanks to Carl for recovering that domain.) o the unicode build has much faster streams, especially for utf8. o support for localization, including CMUCL messages (but translations are not done, except for piglatin, for fun) o executable images for Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, and Solaris o support for static arrays that are not moved by gc, but are gc'ed when not referenced o asdf2 and mk-defsys are included There have also been quite a few other changes and bug fixes; we refer the interested reader to the release notes at http://www.cmucl.org/news/release-20b.txt We hope you find this release useful.
