How to invoke "QString::fromUtf8" ?

CL-USER> (qt::find-qclass "QString") NIL CL-USER>

If this imposible, why

void* sw_make_qstring(char *str) { return new QString(str); }

instead of

void* sw_make_qstring(char *str) { return new QString(QString::fromUtf8(str)); }
