I'm happy to announce: Lisp Lab Austria -- short LiLA -- is a group of loosely affiliated developers and users of Common Lisp. Knowledge exchange, organization of events, and the general promotion of the language is our goal. LiLA is open, informal, and everybody is welcome to join. LiLA focuses on Austria and its neighboring countries. However due to our affiliation with Metalab, most activities are organized in Vienna. More on http://lisplab.at.

Previous Workshops on Generic Programming have been held in Marstrand (affiliated with MPC), Ponte de Lima (affiliated with MPC), Nottingham (informal workshop), Dagstuhl (IFIP WG2.1 Working Conference), Oxford (informal workshop), and Utrecht (informal workshop). http://www.informatik.uni-bonn.de/~ralf/wgp2006.{html,pdf,ps,txt} ======================================================================== ==== Scope ----- Generic programming is about making programs more adaptable by making them more general. Generic programs often embody non-traditional kinds of polymorphism; ordinary programs are obtained from them by suitably instantiating their parameters. In contrast with normal programs, the parameters of a generic program are often quite rich in structure; for example they may be other programs, types or type constructors, class hierarchies, or even programming paradigms. Generic programming techniques have always been of interest, both to practitioners and to theoreticians, but only recently have generic programming techniques become a specific focus of research in the functional and object-oriented programming language communities. This workshop will bring together leading researchers in generic programming from around the world, and feature papers capturing the state of the art in this important emerging area. We welcome contributions on all aspects, theoretical as well as practical, of o adaptive object-oriented programming, o aspect-oriented programming, o component-based programming, o generic programming, o meta-programming, o polytypic programming, o and so on. hello, my name is christian bahls. i am a math student from rostock germany. i intend to visit the eclm 2006 next week, so i would like to ask the list, whether there is some program planed for saturday afternoon that i could join. additionaly, due to my current monetary constraints, (finishing my diploma, therefore not able to work) i am looking for cheap accommodation in hamburg. perhaps someone wants to share a room in a hotel/hostel. (anything a lot more expensive than 25 euro starts to hurt my budget) i also consider bringing a sleeping-bag and tarp(german: plane) hoping that perhaps someone would like to spare 2m^2 auf his garden. yours christian bahls ps: anybody willing to offer an internship and/or challenging work to a fresh math graduate is very welcome to drop me a message

[eurolisp] Symbolics 3645 looking for a good home in Belgium or Hamburg

Hello, In the last few years I have not been able to use 'Castafiore' as much as I would have liked. She is a Symbolic 3645 with documentation, backup tapes, a keyboard/mouse/screen combo and an extra screen. Last time I booted there was some problem with the disk-interface but as this was right after having moved her I suspect it is just a lose connector or card. I'll be going to ECLM2006 in Hamburg and if desired I could bring her along.
