:backend is deprecated--I changed it to :output since you can specify a few things other than backends--I'll get rid of :backends eventually (after I clean up the docs and make sure I don't mention it anywhere)

I'll have to change anything with "mod" or "module" to "plugin" too.

Is it possible to use :backend instead of :output?
And is there a difference?
