A question about cholesky-solve

I am running sbcl 2.1.6 on linux. I installed gsll using quicklisp I picked an arbitrary linear system to solve: (gsl:cholesky-solve (grid:make-foreign-array 'double-float :dimensions '(3 3) :initial-contents '((1 2 3)(4 5 6)(12 42 65))) (grid:make-foreign-array 'double-float :dimensions '(3) :initial-contents '(4 5 3)) t) and it comes back with: #m(6.002328994082840d0 -0.534239053254438d0 0.011218934911243d0) but the correct answer is [12.524;-28.048;15.857] I can't figure out the number it is giving me. What could I be missing? Richard

Install error on ECL

When I tried to install GSLL using Quicklisp with ECL (Embeddable Common Lisp) 16.1.3, the following error occurred and installation failed. I use Debian GNU / Linux (buster). Is there a way to solve this problem? [gsll-devel] GSL2 switch bug?

Hi there, I'm trying to compile the latest version of GSLL (last commit on master branch dd2e7673) and have a compilation error saying that function "jacobian" is called with one argument whereas it wants exactly two. It happens on the following line: https://gitlab.common-lisp.net/antik/gsll/blob/master/solve-minimize-fit/no… and the compiler has the right to complain as with my GSL2 version the signature of the function indeed wants two arguments: https://gitlab.common-lisp.net/antik/gsll/blob/master/solve-minimize-fit/no… This seems like an easy to fix bug but I have no idea about the internals of this library. Could somebody help out? For now I just exchanged the call (on line L262) of "(jacobian solver)" to "(jacobian solver cov)" to have some matrix in there but I don't think that this is the right solution. Thanks in advance! GSL 2 compatibility

As many have noticed, GSLL does not load with GSL 2.x, because of changes to the library API. I have pushed a commit 32bbd1aae8ef that should address this, and I'd like to find testers who have GSL 2 installed. If you do, and you're comfortable with Lisp programming and loading GSLL from git, please get this commit and try loading it. You should get an error "GSLL does not currently work with GSL version 2.x". Then go into init/gsl-version.lisp and remove the last form (error ...), and try loading again. Let me know what happens. Note that at this point, just getting GSLL to load is my goal. It may not execute the changed definitions without error, but I want to start by just getting it to load. GSLL has only recently been updated to support GSL through v. 1.13. Any 1.x version should load, but new functions will not be available. For GSL v 2.x, the interface changed so I expect it will not load. Your best bet for quick results is to locate an old (1.x) version of GSL and use that. Note: please join the mailing list. Trouble with GSLL, ABCL, and Windows 10

Hi All, I've been trying to get Quicklisp to load GSLL with the latest ABCL on my Windows 10 machine. I've managed to get CFFI to work, and Quicklisp has just updated CFFI the other day, making my error messages change. My backtrace is below. Is this a problem with the asdf file for gsll? This is a follow-up on the previous patch. I applied the same principles on data/combination.lisp and recoded using GSL's combination functions only. Again this cleared up some errors or failures on my end. I hope that I did not mangle major pieces of your design intent. I tried to check this on my OS X Mavericks system with CCL but I am getting readtable errors. Just to make sure this is what I did. I git cloned both antik and gsll to my local-projects directory from https://gitlab.common-lisp.net/groups/antik If I git log I see the commit of antik is:63fa8e0a0c04090... and for gsll it is: ad5409ec81f4af... When I try either (ql:quickload :antik) or (ql:quickload :gsll) i get errors like: Reader error on #<BASIC-FILE-CHARACTER-INPUT-STREAM ("/Users/mcheema/quicklisp/local-projects/antik/tests/physical-quantities-grid.lisp"/4 UTF-8) #x3020023E839D>, near position 2047, within "m)) #(1.0d0 5.0d": Undefined character #\( in a #\# dispatch macro. Reader error on #<BASIC-FILE-CHARACTER-INPUT-STREAM ("/Users/mcheema/quicklisp/local-projects/gsll/polynomial.lisp"/4 UTF-8) #x3020024DCCBD>, near position 1730, within "t x.\") #+fsbv (defm": Undefined character #\+ in a #\# dispatch macro. I see there was a commit relating to a named-readtable recently and maybe that is causing the problem or I am just not doing this correctly. -- Kind Regards Munawar

gsll+msys2, gsl2.0, antik patches

For GSLL I am attaching two git patches that accomplish several things: - Loading of GSL that is part of MSYS2 on Windows - Removed dependency on Osicat library - Enable loading of GSL 2.0 by fixing a bit of code in nonlinear least squares fitter. - Disabled loading of basis-spline.lisp - Cosmetic fixes. I could not figure out the problem with basis-spline. I thus removed it. There may be a much better solution than that. I checked the above on latest CCL and SBCL on Windows 7. Warning: the two commits required some git surgery (splitting a commit into two). I hope that I did not introduce additional problems with the splits. For Antik I am attaching one patch that fixes the readtable problem on CCL: (named-readtables:defreadtable :antik (:merge :standard) #-ccl(:macro-char #\# :dispatch)) Without the patch all #... reader macros (CL and Antik) were deleted. With this patch both CL and Antik's reader macros work in CCL. I also tried the patch with SBCL, and I don't see a need for it. But since the macro-char redefinition did not hurt in SBCL, I left it in. Mirko
