Hi, i was wondering if someone can, please, help me with one of the function of lambda-gtk or, even better, with better understanding of lambda-gtk? I am new to this this list, so i am sorry if my question is out of line. I am also pretty new to the whole lisp and gtk thing. i am trying to restrict the user ability to resize the main window, more precisely i want the window to keep constant ratio. From the GTK manual i think it is possible to achieve this by: void gdk_window_set_geometry_hints (GdkWindow *window, GdkGeometry *geometry, GdkWindowHints geom_mask); Maybe this should be a function which starts with gtk_ . The function is there, but i have no idea how to pass two additional parameters to the function, geometry and geom_mask. I've found the following definition: (defalien-type GdkGeometry (struct _GdkGeometry (min_width gint) (min_height gint) (max_width gint) (max_height gint) (base_width gint) (base_height gint) (width_inc gint) (height_inc gint) (min_aspect gdouble) (max_aspect gdouble) (win_gravity GdkGravity))) but this not in the export list, i think. the only relevant functions i could find are the function like this one: (defun gdk::Geometry.min-width (ptr &optional (val nil vp)) .... (if vp (setf (slot v587 'min_width) val) (slot v587 'min_width)))) which i think are used to access the specific fields of the geometry structure. How can create this structure? How do I create any alien variable? Again, i am a newbie. i am sure the answer is trivial, but could not figure this one out. Can you at least point me in the right direction? Or even better toss me some example code? If this is relevant: i run linux, debian, sbcl and lambda-gtk from asdf-install. Thanks in advance. Sergei

Hi, I am not sure if the following observation is helpful - but for any case here it comes... On my system (Debian etch) the extension `.so.0' is used for some libraries - and not the extension `.so' cm-gtk was searching for. Example: ls -la /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so ls: /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so: No such file or directory ls -la /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 2006-10-27 23:30 /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 -> libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.800.20 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3039524 2006-10-14 06:29 /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.800.20 In order to load the libraries I made some changes to my version of the code: - cm-gtk now searches the libraries using both extensions - the list of extensions searched for is customizable by setting the variable *gtk-libext* to something different. current value: #+:darwin '("dylib") #-:darwin '("so" "so.0")) Thanks for your wonderful program! Hi, I am sorry for such a delay, but I have been very busy for the last few months :/ I can't really evaluate the CLOS layer at the moment. Though i can tell you that I don't like the naming scheme you are using :/ (though this is probably my broblem as i am coding-convention nazi ;) I liked "clg" (another common lisp gtk biding package) naming conventions better. All in all it looks nice, and i'll definitely try it out more as soon as i'll get to grips and push the lamdba-gtk cffi port into completion. As at the moment i am having some issues with testing on macs, bitfields and encodings (they are not really supported by cffi and i just don't have the expertise to add the support myself). Hi, guys, I generated a CLOS extension over lambda-gtk. Here are details http://borigen.narod.ru/gtk-on-clos/ I rewrote the original examples with CLOS and added a couple of others. I really interested in what you, guys, think about this. Any comments and suggestions are very welcome. I also have a plan to document and post the functions which generates this CLOS extensions, since currently, I generated only those classes needed for proper functioning of the examples. D.

[lambda-gtk-devel] Patch to add support for unicode labels.

Dear All, This patch adds support for passing unicode strings to gtk for labels and the like. gtk supports this, and it works on sbcl/x86 and sbcl/ppc (both sbcl-0.9.9). Can't test it on ppc64 since there isn't a version of sbcl that currently runs on it. The patch is in two parts. The first part just adds some functions to the api that I need for some of my code. The second part adds support for passing utf8-encoded strings to gtk. Please apply for sbcl and could someone test for CMUCL etc. Thanks. Joslwah. p.s. Is it possible to increment the version number occasionally? I know of at least two incompatible versions around both carrying the 0.1 label.
