Is it possible to render a CLIM application on current web browsers using JavaScript, XHTML and AJAX? I do not mean that is it possible right now (I wish it would be, but it certainly isn't) but conceptually?
There is a "software tool for retrofiting graphical user interfaces developed for CLIM (the Common Lisp Interface Manager), to run dynamically through the World Wide Web." It has been made in around 1995, so it doesn't use fancy stuff like AJAX but HTML + GIFs with image maps/active regions. See http://www.ai.sri.com/~pkarp/clim-www/tool.html for more details. There is also a paper with the title "Adapting CLIM Applications for Use on the World Wide Web" that is available on that page.
The application they have "retrofitted" with this tool is still online: http://ecocyc.org/server.html
