I recently discovered that ECL creates very large tables for FORMAT directives: https://gitlab.com/embeddable-common-lisp/ecl/commit/ 0c9e67345c364b3d41acca899d80a5c0c35152a6 this applies to MKCL as well.
Thank you very much for the report. It does apply to MKCL 1.1.X since I forgot to back port such a fix from 1.2.0. I'll do it shortly.
