Papers ====== Formal presentations in the workshop should take between 20 minutes and half an hour; additional time will be given for questions and answers. Hi everybody, my name is Juanjo Garcia-Ripoll. For those of you who do not know me, I am the maintainer of ECL (http://ecls.sf.net), an implementation of Common Lisp, and for some time I was also attending the munich-lisp meetings. That was quite some time ago. While now I am living in Madrid, I will be spending one month in Munich, visiting a Max-Planck institute in the outskirts of the city. Tobias Rittweiler suggested that it would be a nice chance for a meeting and perhaps a talk proselitizing about ECL, something I never did while still there. Anyway, If someone is interested in organizing one of those meetings, I would not mind attending it, even without a talk. The workshop will have two components: there will be formal talks, and interactive turorial/demo/coding sessions. Papers ====== Formal presentations in the workshop should take between 20 minutes and half an hour; additional time will be given for questions and answers. The purpose of these sessions is both to demonstrate and receive feedback on any interesting Lisp system, either stable or under development. Being less formal than technical paper presentations, these sessions are expected to be highly interactive. The symposium is an international forum for researchers with interests in all aspects of functional programming. SUBMISSION AND DRAFT PROCEEDINGS Full papers (up to 15 pages) and extended abstracts (3 to 6 pages, to be expanded to full papers if accepted) submitted for presentation at the symposium are screened by the program committee. A draft proceedings available at the conference will contain all accepted papers and all accepted abstracts that have been expanded to full papers. Each submission must declare its category (research, position, project, evaluation, or overview). Authors who are students should so indicate when they submit their article. The Program Committee will provide extra feedback for student papers to help compensate for differences between students and other researchers in experience with the publication process. POST-SYMPOSIUM REFEREEING AND PUBLICATION In addition to the draft symposium proceedings, we intend to continue the TFP tradition of publishing a high-quality volume containing the best papers from the symposium. All TFP authors will be invited to submit revised papers after the symposium. These will be refereed using normal conference standards, and the best papers will be selected for publication. Experience seems to tell that trying to schedule a meeting is only successfull if the meeting is coupled with a presentation, and the presenter coordinates when the meeting is supposed to take place. On that experience, does anyone want to present something in the end of September? Notice that the scope of the presentation is entirely left to you. So it's not bad if it's just 10 minutes about some personal project you're currently working on. Just so it'll do its purpose on getting us to meet somewhere. :-) Personally, I'd be interested in an introduction to Clojure. Would anyone like to have meeting at an outdoor place soon since it seems to be warming up (today excluded :-( ). For example: Coelner im Paragraph [Winzererstr.] I just returned from the European Lisp Symposium 2009 (http://www.european-lisp-symposium.org/) in Milan. There were several presentations there which might be quite interesting to present again at the local munich meeting. I'm checking with the authors/presenters before posting their links. so hopefully more to come... In the mean time I've added a couple of suggested topics to the Future meeting topics list on the wiki. 1. CLOS (not from ELS, but we discussed this possiblity before) 2.
