Hi,
The presentation is on the 29th and 30th so Lorenz and me will not be able to attend this week at all. (do not bother with me because I am leaving on the 31 Oct and will be back in Dec anyways) Lorenz tells me that he would be able to attend the week afterwords. But just carry on guys, it was already long enough between the meetings. :)

I'll happily wait another week then. I haven't heard anything about the room reservation anyway. So let's just skip October, and plan for early November.

Hello.
I'll happily wait another week then. I haven't heard anything about the room reservation anyway. So let's just skip October, and plan for early November.
Havent there been a lot of suggestions like the old room in the Oettingenstraße, or Schellingstraße? What about them? I can remember there were quite a lot of people working at the CS Dept of the LMU who came to the lisp meetings, so is this really a problem?
Anyway, today I asked for a room in LMU Maths Dept. in Theresienstraße 39 (next station "Pinakotheken"). I could book the student's Computer-Pool there - well, it may not be the most comfortable place to go, but it has a lot of seats and a beamer, and I have a key for that room, so it should be rather easy to book it (I should know it two weeks before, though).

Thank you for your efforts. I tentatively suggest Thursday, the 12th November, probably around 19/19:30.
So, folks, check your books, and raise your voice if that date does not suit you.

Well, Thursday is not so great, since that might collide with the Python user group meeting at the LMU Oettingenstraße. May I propose Wednesday, the 11th?

Sorry, I have no time on Wednesdays in general.
And I wonder - if the Python user group gets a room at Oettingenstraße, why cant we get one there, too - especially in the long term? I mean there were a lot of people from the CS Dept in the past meetings. Going to the Maths Dept is an alternative and I was told I can book one room - but its still harder to convince the administration to give a room (since I am just a network admin there and not part of the scientific staff). (Also, if some scientific staffer of the CS Dept reads this: It should be easier to get that room if some scientific staffer takes the responsibility, and me being just the guy who has the keys ^^).
Another thing I would be interested in: Who gives a lecture? And about what?
Regards, Christoph

No. I mean at the Meeting. What topic will it be about? We havent got anybody who gives one yet. Or did I miss something?

Yes, it'll be about a library that allows one to write functions operating on sequences conveniently.

Hello,
since it seems to be difficult to find a room for the meeting, I decided to check with the room planning people in my institute as well: It is definitely possible for me to get a seminar or lecture room with a beamer for the upcoming munich-lisp meeting in the geophysics institute on relatively short notice -- in the evening the rooms are usually free anyway.
I would have to ask again if we wanted to install some sort of jour fixe, but I guess at the moment that's unrealistic anyway as the meetings are sporadic and irregular.
The room I could offer would be in the fourth floor of Theresienstraße 41, above the museum "Reich der Kristalle" (http://www.geophysik.uni-muenchen.de/welcome/anfahrt).
Ciao, Thomas

Since that is in the same building as the room I would try to get, well, I would prefer your room (and most other people shouldnt care).

Thank you Thomas! Will there also be a notebook, or pc available? My own one is rather big, and I would prefer to not have to carry it with me.

Hello Tobias,
the room has a beamer and a computer, but if I'm not mistaken, the computer is setup as an XDMCP client only allowing logins to the institute's servers and the USB ports and removable media drives are not accessible.
Of course I could login with my account, but that's only useful if any relevant presentation files can be accessed via the internet or if I can copy them to my university home directory beforehand. I could also bring my own laptop to use for the presentation.
Ciao, Thomas

Anyway, have fun,

Hello,
I just realized that I forgot to mention the room number: It's C406, nicknamed "Lamont". As I previously wrote, it's on the fourth floor of Theresienstraße 41, above the museum "Reich der Kristalle". To save people from running up the wrong stairs I should maybe also mention that parts of the LMU theoretical physics, mathematics and informatics are in the same building, but not in the same tower! Geophysics is in the westernmost tower labelled with "C".
See you tonight, Thomas

I could ask our "LMU contact person" ;) if he's willing to host the Lisp meeting too. So if most people would prefer to stay at Oettingenstraße...
