[slime-devel] Saving *slime-scratch*

The attached patch associates *slime-scratch* with a file if you name one as "slime-scratch-file". I've been running slime with this a while, and rather like it. Something like this was talked about a while ago, and dropped because of what looked like an ideologinal objection to scratch-buffers in my mind. Is the consensus still against this? [slime-devel] Missing features in latest CVS

Hi, I recently upgraded from 2007-05-24 to 2007-11-16 snapshot, and I notice there are some useful features that are now gone. I've tried enabling basically everything in contrib/, but those two I can't get back: - Inspecting a (plain) function object now only shows its name and docstring. It used to show much more, in particular recorded debug information, source file and disassembled compiled code - There are no presentations in SLDB backtraces. I find presentations immensely useful for inspecting backtraces, and I miss them a lot. I do get presentations everywhere else, including streams, but not in the debugger I'm using SBCL 1.0.10 on x86/Linux, and SBCL hasn't changed since I used the May snapshot. Cheers, Maciej

[slime-devel] Problem loading OpenMCL

Hi, I've been running Emacs/Slime/OpenMCL on Mac OS X Tiger (PPC) for several months now with no problem. I just updated and rebuilt OpenMCL (via (ccl:rebuild-ccl :force t)), and now when starting slime, I get the following error. I then updated Slime with the current CVS, but am still getting the error. [slime-devel] Operating on the swank readtable?

Hello, I'm trying to define a few macro characters for use in the slime top-level, but I can't figure out where to put the SET-DISPATCH-MACRO-CHARACTER calls so that they affect the swank readtable instead of the default one. I've tried putting them both in my lisp initialization file and in .swank.lisp, but in both cases the macro character is defined in the initial readtable and not in the slime one (so it works in the *inferior-lisp* buffer, but not in the slime-repl buffer). Does slime have a function which will qualify the symbol at point with its package name if it is imported? And the obvious extension, qualifying all symbols in the region or file? Does anyone have any hints on how one might create such a function? Thanks Numeromancer

I want to create a variant of `defun' that takes arguments from Emacs and assembles a body to be evaluated by SLIME. It seemed to me that this macro definition w ould work: (defmacro ldefun (name arglist &rest body) `(defun ,name ,arglist (slime-eval (progn ,@body)))) For example, here is how it expands in a simple case: (macroexpand '(ldefun testslime (first second) (list first (+ 1 second)))) ;=> (defun testslime (first second) ;=> (slime-eval (progn (list first (+ 1 second))))) But that didn't turn out. In fact, even the `slime-eval' form just above does not work in a stand-alone fashion: (slime-eval (progn (list 2 (+ 1 6)))) Gives this error: Execution of a form compiled with errors. Form: (2 7) Whereas from the REPL, I get this behavior: CL-USER> (progn (list 2 (+ 1 6))) (2 7) So, I find this behavior surprising. Can anyone help me out? Note: I'm running Slime CVS from 2007-06-16 and SBCL 1.0.5.

[slime-devel] source locations for clisp

Hi, How does one define where slime should look for function definitions. The cliki page for slime shows how to do this for sbcl/cmucl but I can't find anywhere showing how to do it with clisp. It seems like maybe it somehow knows automatically but something is not working correctly. For example. I have cells loaded, and I'm working in the cells package, but when I put the cursor on defmodel and hit M-., I get the following error. [slime-devel] executing a lisp file from emacs

New slime user. Running sbcl, emacs 21, FC8 I have a lisp file x.lisp $sbcl --load dovetailCalc.lisp and the program runs fine. I *think* C-c C-k should execute the program. >From the screen information it is simply compiled. http://common-lisp.net/project/slime/doc/html/Lisp-Evaluation.html#Lisp-Eva… Tried C-M-x from within the lisp buffer and I get an error report The function SELFTEST is undefined. [Condition of type UNDEFINED-FUNCTION] Seems it fails to find the top level definition? I guess I'm doing something silly, but I can't figure out what.
