[slime-devel] Bad file descriptor error with find definition

Hello, I'm having problems with the find definition functionality of Slime with Allegro 8.0 - whenever I load a different image to the default Allegro one. I put a simple definition in a local file, y:/home/foo.lisp: (defun foo() "foo!") I start up Slime and connect to Allegro, do (load "y:/home/foo.lisp") from the lisp prompt in emacs, M-. foo, and my foo.lisp immediately opens. On the other hand, if I load one of the image of the product I was hoping to use Slime to develop, load foo.lisp and do M-. foo, I get the error below. Could anyone help me get to the bottom of this? [slime-devel] M-x slime-disconnect killing swank server

Hi, I am trying to setup swank-server on top of clisp so that I can keep a REPL running constantly and if I need to change things I can access it under emacs with M-x slime-connect. I have created the swank-server on port 4005 fine and I can connect to it with slime-connect. My problem is that when I do slime-disconnect to leave it stops the swank-server running too. I can't figure out how to fix this, any ideas? Thanks, David B

[slime-devel] Compilation and loading procedure

I have a simple program, that connects to IRC using cl-irc package and I wish I could compile it using SLIME. If I hit C-c C-k I get the following error: -+ Errors (1) `-- READER-ERROR at 610 (line 24, column 40) on #<SB-SYS:FD-STREAM for "file /home/mico/Sources/lisp/utrbot/ircbot.lisp" {B05E531}>: package "CL-IRC" not found There is a first usage of cl-irc there: (defvar *irc-connection* (cl-irc:connect :nickname "sbclbot" :server "irc.tomsk.ru" :port 6667)) At the top of that file (ircbot.lisp) I call: (require 'asdf) (asdf:oos 'asdf:load-op 'cl-irc) When I run this program using the same sbcl (1.0.5) it works fine - it compiles with no errors or warnings and do what it has to. I guess the cl-irc package doesn't load properly on C-c C-k or I am missing something. After I evaluate the (asdf:oos ... command in the REPL manually and compile the file using C-c C-k it loads and works fine.
