a recent checkin to cvs eliminated a very useful (ymmv) feature: M-r and M-s behaved just like C-s when it was sequently pressed more then once. i use that feature more than anything in the repl navigation. was it intentional? -- - attila "- The truth is that I've been too considerate, and so became unintentionally cruel... - I understand. - No, you don't understand! Helu I wonder if others have seen this problem: I see it once in a while and thought I'd ask here first. Lisp breaks off the connection with the following messages At the slime REPL: > ;; swank:close-connection: There's junk in this string: "ces (q". Have other people seen this sort of problem? [slime-devel] printing to stdout from C functions

Hi, I am debugging a program that calls some C functions via CFFI. Printing stuff from C would be useful (via printf), but the output doesn't show up (neither in the slime window, nor in *inferior-lisp*). I am using SBCL, inside Emacs and SLIME. Is there a way to see the output of printf called from C somewhere? Thanks, Tamas

[slime-devel] Slime crashes when invocing a restart.

Hi, I am building a Lisp development environment on a fresh installation of Ubuntu and I have plenty of problems. When I choose a restart resulting from a condition, Slime crashes. It happened on several occasions. For example when I do: (asdf:oos 'asdf:load-op :aserve) I get: Attempt to modify the locked package COMMON-LISP, by redefining function STREAM-ELEMENT-TYPE [Condition of type LISP::PACKAGE-LOCKED-ERROR] Whatever I choose Slime crashes and the last thing in the REPL is this: ... -install-dir/site/cl-ppcre-1.3.0/scanner.x86f". ; Loading #P"/var/cache/common-lisp-controller/1000/cmucl/local/home/kamen/.asdf-install-dir/site/cl-ppcre-1.3.0/api.x86f". ; Loading #P"/usr/lib/cmucl/subsystems/gray-streams-library.x86f". ;; swank:close-connection: Error in KERNEL::UNDEFINED-SYMBOL-ERROR-HANDLER: the function STREAM-ELEMENT-TYPE is undefined. I have: cmucl-19d, Emacs 21, Slime 2007-05-24, Ubuntu 7.0. When I do the same operation directly (without Slime) the operation is successful. In addition I get "Protocol version mismatch" when I try to connect to Swank server, although I have restarted Emacs, deleted all fasl files and so on. Any help will be appreciated! -- Kamen

[slime-devel] right way to shut down slime?

Can you advise me as to which commands I should use so that I can cleanly start a new slime session? I tried this to kill my remote connection: (slime-quit-lisp) (slime-disconnect) but then when I went to start a new slime connection to a local lisp, entering code in the REPL gives the error: Connection closed.

[slime-devel] Problem with pipelined requests

Hello, I think this question has more to do with Slime, but I'm Cc'ing Drakma because it might be related. I'm in a situation where drakma:http-request seems to get stuck as soon as I want to retreive the BODY of a request. To simplify consider something like this: (defun foo () (multiple-value-bind (body status headers from-uri from-stream must-close reason) (http-request ...) (values body headers))) With *header-stream* set to standard output, I can see the transaction going on until the end, but then the Slime repl doesn't return. I can type comma and then slime commands, C-c C-c has no effect, and if I type something in the repl buffer, I get this on the XEmacs minibuffer window: ; pipelined request... (swank:listener-eval " ") (note the CR) On the contrary, if I comment out the (values ...) form in my function, the request completes and Slime gives me the prompt back. Any hint on what's going on would be appreciated. And BTW, how do I get of such a situation in Slime ?
