Is there a way to make highlight matching paren mode and highlight edits modes play well? I've noticed that when highlight-edits is turned on, the matching paren does not always appear, probably because the face does not account for it? Jonathon McKitrick -- My other computer is your Windows box.

Hi, I see in contrib/ChangeLog that there have been changes made to the fuzzy completion code. Now, when using fuzzy completion on CL-USER> app => Can't find completion for "app" CL-USER> (common-lisp:app => list of fuzzy matches, e.g. apply, append, etc. I suspect this has something to do with FUZZY-FIND-MATCHING-PACKAGES. Is there a way to get a list of fuzzy matches w/out prefixing the symbol with a package name? Thanks! Cheers, David

The basic SLIME recipe in the toplevel README goes: (add-to-list 'load-path "~/hacking/lisp/slime/") (setq inferior-lisp-program "/opt/sbcl/bin/sbcl") (require 'slime) (slime-setup) but this will trip up anybody who tries to use the contrib modules via installing functions in SLIME-LOAD-HOOK, as it will never get called when M-x slime is invoked, at least on Emacs 22. Using this (add-to-list 'load-path "~/hacking/lisp/slime/") (setq inferior-lisp-program "/opt/sbcl/bin/sbcl") (autoload 'slime-setup "slime.el") (slime-setup) seems to actually get SLIME-LOAD-HOOK called. Hi. I'd like to upload SLIME to ELPA, the Emacs Lisp Package Archive. If you don't know about ELPA you can read more here: http://tromey.com/elpa/ This patch adds a "-elpa" flag to mkdist.sh, to make an ELPA-ish package. It is a bit of a hack, but I hope not too bad. On the SLIME side, the long-term maintenance burden of ELPA support is pretty minimal: * Some of it is "good Emacs mode" stuff, basically properly setting up autoloads * If SLIME adds a non-standard dependency (meaning, on some piece of 3rd party Emacs Lisp that properly lives outside of SLIME), note it in the define-package. This will require coordination w/ ELPA before upload anyhow. * Send a release .tar (with a new "dotted numeric" version number) made with "mkdist.sh -elpa" to the ELPA mailing address. Let me know what you think. If you'd prefer I not upload it, or likewise if you think the burden is too high, that is fine -- just let me know. Hello, The autodoc feature is broken for partial forms that are succeeded by top-level forms. For example, if the buffer contains the following text - (defun (defun foo (x) (+ x 1)) - and point is after the first defun and before the beginning of the second defun, no autodoc string will appear in the minibuffer. The reason for this, essentially, is that slime-inside-string-p calls slime-region-for-defun-at-point, which calls end-of-defun, which signals an error. slime-inside-string-p only needs the position of the beginning of the defun from slime-region-for-defun-at-point. I chose to fix it, however, by changing what the latter does. If the end position cannot be determined, nil will be used in its place. Patch is attached. Ariel

I have a question about how highlight mode is supposed to work. Once I load and enable highlight mode, what do I need to do to make uncompiled code appear highlighted? Does it happen automatically the second I change a character anywhere in a compiled function? Is there something special I have to do to active the minor mode other than the three lines of code in the header of slime-highlight-edits.el that activate the behavior? If I start with a clean slime directory (no fasls) and attempt to (asdf:oos 'asdf:load-op :swank), I get an error message as the swank package isn't loaded when it tries to access some things in the swank::... package. The following patch fixes thing, although there might be a better approach. Cyrus

With latest slime, when doing M-.(slime-edit-definition) on SBCL functions like SB-SYS:SERVE-EVENT I get this error message: slime-goto-location-position: Invalid function: save-restriction-if-possible this is because the macro `save-restriction-if-possible' is defined after `slime-goto-location-position' and, when byte-compiling slime.el, it breaks. I've attached a patch that moves `save-restriction-if-possible' right before `slime-goto-location-position' -- Stelian Ionescu a.k.a. fe[nl]ix Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur.

After many months, I finally decided to update my copy of slime from the last version I had (Apr 2007) [1]. I see that things have changed quite a bit, and it seems slime-setup is the appropriate way to set up slime. However if you do (slime-setup :typeout-frame t), you get an error that slime-ensure-typeout-frame doesn't exist. Should slime-setup take care to load contrib/slime-typeout-frame.el is loaded? Or is that the user's responsibility? If the former, then consider this a bug report. :-) Ray [1] Slime did everything I wanted and never seemed to have any bugs that affected me, so I didn't see any reason to upgrade.
