I was looking for a comprehensive user manual for (Lisp beginners
with) Slime (with Ready Lisp) and found that the HTML as well as the
PDF available from the project page were quite outdated.
I took the texi file from CVS but makeinfo says it can't build it
since contributors.texi is missing.
...
slime.texi:2633: @include `contributors.texi': No such file or
directory.
...
Is there a way to help here ?

Hello,
A recent change on 2007-11-29, "Prettify package names for
slime-repl-set-package", broke the way this function works by making it
use slime-current-package instead of slime-find-buffer-package as its
default value.
The attached patch should fix that.
