[slime-devel] Saving *slime-scratch*

The attached patch associates *slime-scratch* with a file if you name one as "slime-scratch-file". I've been running slime with this a while, and rather like it. Something like this was talked about a while ago, and dropped because of what looked like an ideologinal objection to scratch-buffers in my mind. Is the consensus still against this? Hi, on something like #+foo (defun foo (...) ...) | or #+foo (defun foo (...) ...) | Do you think C-c C-c should take the reader conditional into account? As `slime-region-for-defun-at-point' happens to be implemented right now, it isn't. -T.

Hi, The return value of FIND-DEFINITIONS isn't specified as rigorously as I'd like; I'm referring to its DSPEC part specially. For instance, on CMUCL: (find-definitions #'car) ==> (((FUNCTION CAR) ..location..) ...) whereas on SBCL (find-definitions #'car) ==> (((DEFUN CAR) ..location..) ...) Similiarly, CMUCL returns a dspec (VARIABLE :SPECIAL *FOO*) whereas SBCL returns (DEFVAR *FOO*). I'd like to specify that a DSPEC is either a symbol, or a list where the CAR is the defining symbol (DEFVAR for variables, DEFUN for function, &c.) that resulted in the respective definition, the CADR is the name of the thing, and optionally there's an extra description as the rest argument (specializing arglist for methods, for instance.) Furthermore, I'd like to explicitly validate this with a DESTRUCTURE-CASE such that each backend implementator can directly see what's expected. Opinions? -T.

Hi, I posted this question on c.l.l and they suggested I re-post it here. I run into a problem when running SLIME with Clozure Common Lisp (a.k.a. openmcl). When I call a function with the wrong number of args, the error message is unhelpful. When I do the same running openmcl directly (not via SLIME) it works correctly.
