Currently, attempting to produce the arglist for make-instance given some class name causes an error because the compute-applicable-methods-using-classes function isn't defined by ECL. Attached is a patch that adds a stub version of the function which at least makes it possible to type make-instance calls without interruption by an error. In fact, you even get an arglist, although it isn't necessarily correct - for instance, given a defclass such as (defclass foo () (myslot :initarg myinitarg)), Slime presents the arglist as (make-instance 'foo &rest initargs &key (myslot clos::+initform-unsupplied+)), using the slot name rather than the initarg name. I haven't investigated where that comes from, but it's better than nothing.

[slime-devel] [patch] ECL defmethod arglist fix

Currently on ECL swank::arglist dies when given a generic function (as happens when producing the arglist for a defmethod). swank-ecl.lisp uses si:compiled-function-name for mapping functions to their names, but this doesn't work for generic functions. The attached patch adds a check for generic functions, to use clos:generic-function-name instead, and tightens the test conditions in two branches of 'arglist' that err when a generic-function passes by.

[slime-devel] weird completion error on REPL

Hey, I updated my CVS to latest to SLIME 2009-11-06 and I get a weird error while using completion on the REPL. here are the steps I have a package defined like this: (defpackage :tripr (:use :cl :hunchentoot :html-template) (:export :webserver-start)) I load it with asdf and it loads. But as soon as I try to expand (tripr: on the REPL I get the following error. This does not happen when I try it on another package like cl-ppcre or hunchentoot. [slime-devel] [patch] ECL arglist fix

The swank ECL backend discards the first argument in arglists obtained via grovel-docstring-for-arglist due to a CDR applied to the return value. This behavior dates back to the original version of the function in revision 1.32 and I can't figure a good reason for it (unless ECL is inconsistent in its documentation format). I first encountered this behavior upon observing that slime's arglist for POSITION-IF omitted the test argument. Attached is the trivial fix.
