[slime-devel] Understanding sbcl source code

I'm sure there's a simple answer to this question. I'm browsing the sbcl source to find the lowest level implementation of CAR and I found this (defun car (list) (car list)) So the 'real' definition of CAR must be elsewhere. :) Perhaps in the C source code? Would someone point me to the correct location? Thanks.

[slime-devel] Compilation output goes to *inferior-lisp* buffer under ABCL

Somewhere between 2008-12-25 and 2009-01-17 the output for compilations in ABCL no longer shows up in the REPL but instead goes to the associated *inferior-lisp* buffer. Neither SBCL nor CLISP exhibit this behavior when invoked under the same Emacs/.emacs/SLIME combination, so I assume that something in the 'swank-abcl.lisp' hasn't kept pace with the rest of the system. Could anyone give me a pointer to specific changes that I could look at to investigate fixing this? A basic ten-minute investigation of the diffs didn't reveal anything glaringly obvious to me. Hi, here is a patch that improves handling of cross references with clisp. With this patch file locations are presented to the function level instead of "no location". [Condition of type TYPE-ERROR]" This is caused by grovel-docstring-for-arglist in slime/swank-ecl.lisp. By bad luck, Edi happened to use a docstring which *almost* matched the format... I don't spend much time meditating on the internals of slime and thought this felt about right... (add-hook 'slime-connected-hook (lambda () (slime-load-system 'foo))) However, slime doesn't like it and complains: The variable SWANK-IO-PACKAGE::FOO is unbound. What's the 'right' way to do it?
