I use these binary packages on OpenBSD-4.1: - emacs-21.4p3-no_x11 - clisp-2.33.2p1 and - slime-2.0.tgz from the Slime web site.
Could you try the CVS version of Slime and perhaps a newer CLISP? 2.33 is rather old. If that doesn't work, show us the content of the *slime-events* buffer. Helmut.
