Can you try upgrading to the CVS version of SLIME? For SBCL-SLIME compatibility you typically need to use versions of a similar vintage and it seems your SBCL is much newer than your SLIME. FWIW it works fine for me with SLIME CVS and SBCL 0.8.19.15.
