Oh, after all, i think i shouldn't have backed off this early.
The thing is, you can bind a function to a single key, which is convenient. With a keystroke sequence it is perceivably harder, as it requires keyboards macros.
Anyway, if you think such stuff belongs to ~/.emacs.d/init.el, then so be it...
