I would like to suggest that the slime-fancy contrib be loaded by default. Some of those features have become rather fundamental to me and, I suspect, to many other SLIME users as well.
The key word for me here is "some". I don't use slime-fancy; I load the contribs I want, and only the contribs I want. I'd prefer it stayed that way.
I think Luis was arguing that (slime-setup) should be made equivalent to (slime-setup '(slime-fancy)).
