[hunchentoot-devel] Library for http requests

Hi I am wonderng if hunchentoot or some of Edi's tools have support for http get/post requests (when I need to request some information from hunchentoot to another server). I found trivial-http, but it depends on trivial-sockets which is dead and I couldn't download the latter lib. I thought that hunchentoot would be a good place to put in such a small but useful functionality. Maybe it's already there only I couldn't find the functions. Thank you, Andrew

Going trough the test server code it's clear how to diplay an image based on a static handler or sending a raw image stream to the client. But how can show an image in context of a normal html page (surrounded by other text tags like <div> <table> etc)? Thank you, Andrew

[hunchentoot-devel] Printing the output

I am a bit confused about using macros like with-html. Let's say if I want to produce an html with my post parameter value in it. Just saying (:p (post-parameter "foo")) won't put the value in the <p> tag. On the other hand saying (:p (format t "~a" (post-parameter "foo"))) or (:p (esc (post-parameter "foo"))) will produce the expected result. Same goes with (:p (esc (with-output-to-string (s) (format s "~a" (post-parameter "foo"))))) My question is what's common about the latter examples that makes a printing possible? Does it mean that all printing within with-html should happen to *standard-output* and the esc function redirects it to it? What package should I look at to have a better understanding of it? [hunchentoot-devel] Trying to display test page

I've installed the hunchentoot server, put in my Lisp lines: (asdf:oos 'asdf:load-op :hunchentoot-test) (hunchentoot:start-server :port 3001) Now I am trying to figure out how can I display the test page (if I don't have a direct connection to my local server and the port 3001). If I try to use url like http://www.mydomain.com/lisp/hunchentoot/ test I see the default page of Hunchentoot (with message "You're most likely seeing it because the server administrator hasn't set up a custom default page yet"). Any ideas how can I reach the test page? Thank you, Andrew

For testing I'm using a small python script that repeatedly uploads the same file, it's available at http://85.65.214.241/misc/test-upload.tar.gz Actually with hunchentoot 0.5.1 and the latest mod_lisp2 (not sure which one is responsible) I see a slightly different behavior: there's no message about file being closed in the log, but after several attempts the request seems to hang and after some time apache logs [error] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: error reading from Lisp . After that I get HTTP 500 Server error. Please let me know how I can help to better diagnose the problem. [hunchentoot-devel] Limiting number of connections in Hunchentoot?

I'd like to limit the number of simultaneous connections into Hunchentoot. Anyone have a good idea on how to do that? I'd rather not put mod_lisp in front of Hunchentoot since I don't want to run Apache as part of my configuration. Any advice appreciated. Cheers, Chris Dean

Hello, Some time ago I started to create one web-page with hunchentoot to learn lisp with something practical. So far, so good, my site is almost ready to launch, but I've run into problem I can't find a way to solve. My site will be in 3 languages - english, russian and estonian. I use postgresql as database backend and clsql to do sql stuff. At first I used latin-1 (I guess it was default) for website and on admin side too. Everything worked like a charm, I could enter russian text and it ended up nicely in database, uploading images worked too. Problem came up when I needed to display localized dates. I use cl-l10n to do localization. Localized time is made like this: (format nil "~v,v/cl-l10n:format-time/" "ru_RU" "%e. %B %Y" (get-universal-time))) This gave error: Error while processing connection: #\CYRILLIC_CAPITAL_LETTER_YA is not a LATIN-1 character. So I tried to switch everything to UTF-8 (which would be preferred anyway). (setq hunchentoot:*hunchentoot-default-external-format* :utf-8) Localized dates and text from database now displayed correctly, but then I couldn't upload binary files from forms, I guess utf-8 and binary don't mix well. I looked at test.lisp (utf) examples, but seems that my lisp knowledge isn't up to it yet. Could anyone help me to find solution for this. Either how to get cl-l10n to output correct latin1 localized dates or how to make everything in utf-8 and get form uploads to work. Thanks in advance, Viljo

Hello, I've stumbled upon the following problem, running Hunchentoot behind Apache/mod_lisp2: doing file uploads (for example to the "file upload test" in hunchentoot-test I have *intermittent* failures where the apache error log shows the following: [Sun Jan 21 05:10:16 2007] [error] [Hunchentoot] Error when creating REQUEST object: #<SB-SYS:FD-STREAM for "file /tmp/hunchentoot/hunchentoot-293" {C1ADA79}> is closed. Continuing attempts to upload after such failure I often get HTTP 400 Bad request. Running an automated test shows that usually after 5-6 iterations the error happens. Running hunchentoot without apache does not show this error (tests of several hundred requests succeed) This happens with Hunchentoot versions 0.4.3 and 0.5.1. The platform is Debian-testing/i386, SBCL 1.0.1, Apache 2.2 Thanks, Ury
