I think I will not add a logging subsystem. My plan is to make the log-message function part of the official API and provide for a way to specify the logging function so that everyone can use their own favoured logging framework.

I haven't really looked at the available logging libs yet. Would it make sense to use one of those? The current implementation certainly has a couple of flaws.
