Sorry for the late reply, but so far I didn't have the time to test the new version on Lisps other than LispWorks. I just tried the current SVN version with SBCL 1.0.32 on Linux x86 and it works for me - STOP returns and the listener process exits. That was with usocket 0.4.1 in case that matters. (Should I have used the repository version instead?)
