It seems that you can transfer from a 501 streetcar to a bus that keeps on Queen Street, if anyone is coming from downtown and wants to cut down on walking.

Interesting article, they're doing something called swarm coding where everyone ssh's into a machine and they pass control from one person to another using tmux or something else. I know we sometimes share code listings or links to code at the meetups but it might be wise to do that before the meetups so that we can discuss things instead of playing catchup and asking for explanations. I like reading Lisp code to try and improve my style and to learn more of the language and it's a breath of fresh air after dealing with Python/Django all day. Also, instead of having that toronto-lisp github account perhaps we should just add links to people's repos onto the website. -Rudolf O.

So we're having the next meeting at Wave Accounting, at 235 Carlaw Avenue Toronto, ON M4M 2S1 is that the correct address? If so, TTCers should be able to get there by the 501 Queen Streetcar. Anyone know the neighborhood reasonably well? Are we safe heading over there individually, or should we all meet up somewhere and head out as a group? -Leo

[toronto-lisp] New meeting location

Gentlemen, September is soon upon us, has a new meeting location been selected? Although last months meeting place was visually simulating at times I do not wish to be attacked by killer bees, alcoholic bums or gyrating booties. Paul's suggested location at the accounting firm sounds good! A place where we can get down to business. Any objections or alternative suggestions? As of today there is still time to decide. [toronto-lisp] Lisp & Haskell

Hello all, Christopher: The Toronto Lisp Users Group's (TLUG) monthly meeting place has been closed down. Lispers: Christopher has been organizing a Haskell / functional programming night once a month at the hacklab. (hacklab.to) Maybe you could both could join forces? I know it's not perfectly ideal, but I think that it would be a good meeting of like minded people. If I'm not mistaken, the TLUG meets on the first Tuesday of every month. Unfortunately, that's the hacklab's open house. Again, if I'm not mistaken, the Haskell group has been meeting on the first Wednesday of every month. Christopher: Would it be possible to hold a Functional Programming Users Group on the first Wednesday of every month, and include the Lispers? Lispers: Would meeting on the first Wednesday of every month at the hacklab be okay? (Yes, I know that Lisp doesn't imply functional programming - but maybe non-functional Lispers could be made welcome?) (And yes, I'm just throwing this out there.) As an aside: I think fans of Dave Cooper's GDL / Genworks might be interested in Chritopher's ImplicitCAD: https://github.com/colah/ImplicitCAD Sorry if this is unwelcome / doesn't work out. Next meeting is Tuesday August 7. www.lisptoronto.org I drove by Linux Caffee a few weeks ago and the windows were still papered over. Has the situation changed? Would someone suggest (with coordinates) an provisional alternate location? Does anyone have ties with UofT and could get us permission to grab an unused classroom once a month (the way that GTALUG does)? thanks pt
