Support of a proxy in the usocket is meaningful? It will add dependence on cl-base64.

What kind of proxy are you referring to? SOCKS5? HTTP? (Are there others?)

Ok. Thanks for the idea, but I think that falls out of the scope of usocket. Also, there's a very good HTTP/1.1 (client) library with a BSD style license: http://weitz.de/drakma/ , so I think it would also be a duplication of effort. It's usocket based and therefor quite portable.
