Trouble running abcl 1.5.0 with java 1.8.0_161 on macOS 10.12.6

It seems to build fine, and generate the abcl.jar in the dist/ folder when I build from source. ABCL conflicts with tomcat on ## path names

With tomcat, if you want to change the root application you can either rename the directory ROOT or ROOT##myapp. ROOT#myapp makes a lot of sense because it reminds you what's there. However, that naming convention seems to conflict with ABCL. ASDF 3.3.2 released

Dear Lisp implementors and maintainers, Today we release ASDF 3.3.2, the second bugfix release for the 3.3 release series. Of primary interest in this release are 1. Multiple fixes in handling misnamed (or "legacy-named," if you prefer) secondary systems ("foo-test" instead of "foo/test"). Thanks to Eric Timmons, there is also a similar fix for package-inferred-systems. 2. Fix an annoying warning message for compute-action-stamp. 3. Add support for the Mezzano implementation (thanks to E. Housel, H. Harrington). 4. Miscellaneous minor fixes and documentation tweaks. We urge implementations that are currently bundling previous versions of ASDF -- and especially those bundling 3.3.0 or 3.3.1 -- to upgrade to 3.3.2 at their earliest convenience. Immense thanks, as always, to Fare Rideau. Also thanks to the many bug reporters and patch submitters (see the Changelog), and to Anton Vodonosov and Dave Cooper for help with testing. Causing an exception rather than calling the debugger

Hi, I embedded ABCL in an app some years ago. When an error occurred, ABCL threw an exception. It did what I want. Today I upgraded to the latest jar and I am experiencing a different behavior. When an error occurs ABCL enters a debug REP loop. Calling a REP loop on error is perfect for interactive use but not workable in an embedded situation. I'm hoping there is a simple way for me to change this behavior. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Blake McBride

Re-entrant and multi-entrant ABCL calls

Greetings, Does ABCL safely support re-entrant and multi-entrant calls? What I mean by that is the following: Re-entrant: on a single OS thread - my Java program calls into ABCL, then ABCL calls into my Java application, and then the Java application calls back into ABCL. So the stack has Java, ABCL, JAVA, and then ABCL again. Multi-entrant: my Java application has many threads. One of my threads calls into ABCL. Then, while one thread is still in ABCL, another thread evokes ABCL. So now we have two calls into ABCL by two independent Java/OS threads running at the same time. I understand the typical problems associated with application-level shared variables. This is expected. The question revolves around ABCL's internals. I presume ABCL would have some shared data that is internal to ABCL. That's what I am unclear about. ABCL would have had to be designed for these scenarios from the ground up. This is a little hard to test because if it can't always correctly handle these situations, it may not become clear until certain scenarios arrive. It may be hard for any "test" program I write to cause those scenarios, so I thought this may be a known answer. Thanks! Blake

available encodings symbols strangeness; was: How to determine allowable external formats at run time

Hi, I've made some progress, but ran into a problem. I see that SYSTEM:AVAILABLE-ENCODINGS returns a list of symbols which represent the various encodings that are discovered via Charset.availableCharsets. That's great, but the symbols are apparently not interned in the keyword package, so it makes it somewhat confusing to determine whether a given encoding is on the list. e.g. (member :utf-16 (system:available-encodings)) returns NIL, although looking at the list, you can see that :UTF-16 is there. Confusingly, (mapcar #'symbol-package (system:available-encodings)) shows that all symbols are in the keyword package, but (find-symbol "UTF-16" :keyword) returns NIL. I believe the problem is that availableEncodings in src/org/armedbear/lisp/Stream.java says, in part, (at line 399 in the current version) new Symbol(charset, PACKAGE_KEYWORD) but I think more appropriate would be PACKAGE_KEYWORD.intern(charset) or, at any rate, something to intern the charset symbol in the package, since the Symbol constructor doesn't have that effect. What does anyone think about that? I tried to sign in to Trac to enter a bug report about this but wasn't able. (1) "Login" wants a common-lisp.net user id -- I don't see a method to obtain a user id on the common-lisp.net website. (2) "OpenId login", clicked on Google, got: "Error in discovery: HTTP Response status from identity URL host is not 200. Got status 404". Hope this helps, and all the best. Robert Dodier
