Help with random testing file system functions

Hi all, Would anybody be willing to help me with the clfs package I have written? The package defines contracts for all Common Lisp and UIOP file system operations and can run random tests with them. I would like to see what the random testing does on different combinations of lisp implementations and file systems, and if implementation independent contracts are feasible. If the package works across implementations then the contracts can help testing uiop and also each implementation's conformance to the hyperspec. The problem is of course that the operations are not defined that precisely, but results so far seem promising. I have run the tests on Linux and Windows for sbcl and ccl. At this point there are some edge cases left, but the general concept seems to work without too many implementation specific details in the contracts. The package can be found at https://github.com/lisper99/clfs. To run the test you have to load the clfs-test package, create an empty directory somewhere and call function clfs-test:test-contracts with the directory as argument. How to tell if we're being loaded by ASDF?

Hi, this is a bit off the wall, but maybe there is a way to do it. A web search didn't seem to find anything about it. Is there a way to know that ASDF is loading stuff? I have this situation. A file might be loaded by ASDF or it might be loaded by hand. If it's being loaded by ASDF, then I'd like to do some stuff differently. Why might this file be loaded by hand, why not always use ASDF? Well, it's not a Lisp file, it's a Maxima file being loaded by some maxima-asdf hackery. I can't count on maxima-asdf working for anybody else so I'm expecting that people will load it by hand instead of ASDF. But if it is being loaded by ASDF, then I'd like to know that. Debian package for ASDF 3.3.4

Is anyone still interested in building the Debian package? I'm developing mostly on Mac, and don't have the zorch required to stand up a Debian toolchain and build the package, and also I'm not trusted by the Debian project, so I don't know how to upload. I believe ASDF is all ready for Debian building if anyone has the tool support and motivation to turn the crank. There's even support for it in the Makefile. Please contact me if you are interested. ASDF 3.3.4 is now available

In honor of Valentine's Day, and more honestly, just because it's overdue, today we release ASDF 3.3.4, the fourth bugfix release for the 3.3 release series. We urge implementations that are currently bundling previous versions of ASDF -- and especially those bundling 3.3.0 or 3.3.1 -- to upgrade to 3.3.4 at their earliest convenience. This is especially true for SBCL, for which 3.3.4 fixes a bug preventing ASDF upgrade from working smoothly. Immense thanks, as always, to Faré Rideau. Delay in 3.3.4 release

Unfortunately, the pressures of my day job have prevented me from spending the time required to get 3.3.4 released. I now hope for this weekend. Apologies for the delay: I very much want to get this released to solve a critical issue in recent SBCL versions.

There are two issues and three merge requests that are essentially ready to go. I will work through them as quickly as the pressures of work permit, hoping to release 3.3.4 at the end of the week. If you have time, please test, especially if you use Windows, where I am unable to run the test suite. Thanks!

I should know this... finding INPUT-FILES

I'm looking at the documentation for `INPUT-FILES` and `OUTPUT-FILES` and I see this: ``` (defgeneric output-files (operation component) (:documentation "Methods for this function return two values: a list of output files corresponding to this action, and a boolean indicating if they have already been subjected to relevant output translations and should not be further translated. ")) ``` Missing in the above is an explanation of how to tell `INPUT-FILES` whether to apply output translations or not. Is this left to the author of the relevant `PERFORM` method? Or is there something one should do when writing a `PERFORM` method or an operator definition?

Re: ASDF dependency graph or complexity score

What kind of dependency graph are you looking to make? Just the systems, or also the individual system components? And do you want a visible representation of this graph, or just some set of data structures? I assume the former, since you should be able to use the system components themselves to get all the dependency links. If it's the former, the easiest thing might be to use CL-DOT and write the necessary methods to create a graph. You might need to get ASDF to compute the plan for `LOAD-OP` as a way to ensure that all the required system definitions are loaded. With respect to test systems, I have usually found it best to have my systems, say "foo", have "foo/test" related systems, delegate the `test-op` for "foo" to "foo/test" using `in-order-to`, and then only "foo/test" needs to depend on the test library -- "foo" itself doesn't need it.
