You are being nagged on because your project's name showed up in the nightly Checkbot run. Checkbot checks for broken links etc. This probably means that you are either pointing to a broken link or that someone is pointing to a broken link on your site. [clo-devel] CVS commit problems

Hello, I have the same problem as Rudi with CVS. I am trying to commit a file and I get the following error. cvs [server aborted]: could not open lock file `/home/cvs/spring2/Dss/src/Tax/,NullTaxProvider.cs,': Permission denied Please help, if anyone knows the answer to it. Thanks, Raju.

[clo-devel] slime movie torrent broken

The bittorrent file for the slime movie has a tracker URL boinkor.net:6969, but boinkor.net now refers to baker.boinkor.net which is not running a tracker, rather than walrus.boinkor.net, which is. Also, this blog post: http://weblog.randomchaos.com/archive/2005/11/12/How_not_to_Provoke_Imitati… which is linked from Planet Lisp, links directly to the movie file on common-lisp.net, which might add to your bandwidth (or maybe I'm the only one to use that link?). You might enjoy making slime.mov a directory with an index.html file directing people to the torrent. Brandon

Hello, There is a larguish problem with common-lisp.net. That problem simply is that its main admin and otherwise responsible guy (that is, me), has simply had more than enough of it. I just do not want to do this any longer. I enjoyed it for a long time but that time has been over for a while. I don't think that things are going well with common-lisp.net as they are. The projects page is abandoned. We are still running debian woody. This sort of thing happens because I do not have the time, the expertise, or simply the energy to do better, and because there is no real infrastructure for sharing responsibilities. A project like this should have one, but I don't have the energy nor the time of building one. Thus, I have decided to stop accepting new projects and begin to think about a way out of this. Perhaps someone else might want to take over, which means taking over completely, including organizing the hosting. I will assist with whatever help is needed for the transition, which, BTW, is fairly simple. If you run a modern 2.6 kernel with masquerading capabilities, common-lisp.net is just a single (resource-heavy) application. But whoever takes over - be warned. Sooner or later you will have to solve the infrastructure problem I mentioned above. (And obviously, there is some selectivity about who might take over.) If nobody feels like taking over, I will shut down common-lisp.net at the end December 2005. I'm sorry. Regards, Mario.

[clo-devel] spam, spam, and less spam - mail miscelanea

Hi, Since saturday we are running postfix (current; from backports.org) instead of exim. The first thing I did after making sure it runs was to add a greylisting daemon. As far as I can tell from wathcing the logs, that is all really having an effect in reducing spam. Finally, I despammed admin. That is, I downloaded the mbox, and separated the spam from the ham. I don't know how people feel about it[1] - personally I don't mind. I put the old private and public mbox archives in a tar file in ~root/attic. Now, there are lots of mailing lists on cl.net which essentially are spam traps. How do you feel about weeding the spam out with some automatic tool like spamasassin?
