[eclm] Will anyone be early to Amsterdam?

Hello - I arrive to Amsterdam on Oct, 21th (Friday) in the afternoon and will have a lot of free time before the official start of ECLM. If anyone will be there already at the same time and will also have free time, please drop me a line. Perhaps we can arrange a pre-ECLM event :-) Best, Art

I'll be around starting on Wednesday, so I'm definitely up for dinner and/or coffee. I plan to work on the abcl-1.0 release, but I should have some time for socializing. Mark <evenson.not.org@gmail.com>

I'm also coming on Friday, and am interested to join. Vsevolod On Fri, Oct 14, 2011 at 1:44 PM, Mark Evenson <evenson.not.org@gmail.com>wrote:

I'll arrive on Saturday morning (my flight is scheduled for arrival at 9am). I was thinking to drop some stuff at my hotel and then go to the conference place... will there be anyone around there? I was too late for registering for the guided tour... Andrea On Fri, Oct 14, 2011 at 12:50 PM, Vsevolod Dyomkin <vseloved@gmail.com> wrote:

I will arrive Saturday morning. Since it will be my first time in Amsterdam, it will be great to have a social meeting with someone that knows the city and maybe can guide us to a nice place. BTW, what is the list of "must see" places /things in Amsterdam? Cheers, Alexandre On Friday, October 14, 2011, Anton Vodonosov <avodonosov@yandex.ru> wrote:

Hello, I am arriving in Amsterdam tomorrow noon at 13:25 and I am planning to do sightseeing until one hour prior to dinner. I am not on the guided tour. Are there any sightseeing groups that already have been formed that I can join? Or is anyone interested in joining me tomorrow for sightseeing? OK, so people who want to do sightseeing are already on the guided tour and the others are only interested in beer, I get it ;-) The guided tour will start 13:40 and last 2 hours, so it will end at approx. 15:40. I assume it will end where it starts, at Dam Square? If so, could this be a good place to meet? 15:45 -- 16:00? It's near to the central station. The pub I had in mind is Het Ij http://www.europeanbeerguide.net/hetij.htm, Amsterdam's oldest brewery, so definitely of some sightseeing value, but it's not in the city center, so my plan is maybe not that good, any better suggestions are welcome! I'm not going on the tour, I plan to aimlessly wander around the city (I know Amsterdam a little bit, and it's fun to wander) Deliana (and anyone else who isn't going on the tour), you're most welcome to join me. Het Ij is an easy wander from the central station or Dam square, I vote +1. Manu On Oct 21, 2011, at 8:31 PM, Foutekova, Deliana wrote:

Hi Manu and Alexandre, I will arrive in Amsterdam at 13:25 if all trains go like scheduled. After that I'll go to Dam square and check the guided tour situation, as there have been many cancellations by now. So in any case this is probably a good starting point for any further activities. Regardless if I get on the tour or not, I'm going to do sightseeing after that, which pretty much means wandering around, and I would appreciate company. After I leave home tomorrow morning I will be offline, so here's my cell: +49 162 8552599. Wandering is okay but rent a bike for some euros, get a free map at VVD in front of Central station (or ask locals for the way), go by bike and follow your instinct. Brouwerij van het Ij is definitely worth it with its unique charme. Be aware that it closes 8pm. I like Zatte and Columbus. You can use http://journeyplanner.9292.nl/, Tram 14 towards Flevopark from Dam to Pontanusstraat for 2.60 EUR (paid in the tram). Take the free ferries behind Central Station e.g. NDSM werft to see Amsterdam from the water. Michael Am 21.10.2011 22:04, schrieb Manu Iyengar:
