[slime-devel] OpenMCL inspector patch

In swank-openmcl.lisp, there's a function called CLOSURE-CLOSED-OVER- VALUES. For about a year now, OpenMCL has included CCL::CLOSURE-CLOSED-OVER- VALUES, which produces results in the expected format, and should probably be used instead. It correctly displays the closed-over values on x86-64 OpenMCL---the function in swank-openmcl.lisp doesn't. Alternatively, (ccl::%svref closure (+ 1 (- howmany n))) could be replaced with (ccl::nth-immediate closure (+ 1 (- howmany n))) NTH-IMMEDIATE has been around for over 2 years, and I would hope that nobody is running an OpenMCL older than that...

[slime-devel] Typeout frame, autodoc-mode and notes

When using the typeout frame with slime-autodoc-mode enabled, reading notes using slime-next-note and slime-previous-note is difficult. This is due to the fact that slime-autodoc-pre-command-refresh-echo- area is on pre-command-hook and wipes the echo area clean right after the note is displayed. I've attached a patch to remedy this for the time being, but it feels very unclean. All I did was adjust the conditions in slime-autodoc- message-ok-p such that it returns nil when last-command is eq to either slime-next-note or slime-previous-note. This at least lets you read the note before you start to adjust the code (once you do anything else, the echo area is wiped clean). This behaviour is suitable to me for the time being, which is why I'm submitting a patch. I'm not sure if something else should done about this, such as making notes appear for a fixed period of time in a typeout frame or something like that. -- Geoff

[slime-devel] Typeout frame patch

I updated to the latest version out of CVS and there is a problem in contrib/slime-typeout-frame.el. Specifically, in slime-typeout-frame- init, some functions were written as #'foo inside a quoted list, which resulted in attempts to funcall (function foo). This, of course, failed. The attached patch fixes the problem. -- Geoff

[slime-devel] ntemacs, bug in "slime-file-name-merge-source-root"

Hi, I tried the latest slime snapshot (2007-09-26) on Windows XP with NTEmacs 23.0.0.1 and SBCL 1.0.9. I have a file with some functions in e.g. d:/projects/test/test.lisp. When I try to compile a defun in this file with slime-compile-defun (C-c C-c), tramp starts and dies, trying to ssh to "d". I traced the bug down to the return of the function slime-file-name-merge-source-root: (return (concat (file-name-as-directory "/") target-suffix (file-name-nondirectory target-filename)))))))))) The problem is that this functions returns "/d:/projects/test/test.lisp" to slime-maybe-warn-for-different-source-root (guessed-target), and then used as an argument to file-exists-p. This function thinks it is a network path and then launches tramp. As a quick fix I removed (file-name-as-directory "/") from the return, what naturally just works on windows. [slime-devel] slime-file-name-merge-source-root does not work on ms-windows

Hi, the function slime-file-name-merge-source-root from slime.el does not work on windows, because it adds a slash in front of the device in a pathname. That causes emacs to call ange-ftp to a nonexistant machine. The attached patch solves the problem by checking whether the original path started with s slash and only then inserts a slash again in front of the buffer root.
