Hello, I am going to propose a patch to create-random-string to increase the randomness. This function has two optional parameters - the number of digits returned and the base. I would like to know whether anyone uses this function and needs to specify the exact number of digits returned. If anyone does need to specify the exact number of digits, then my patch needs to take that into account. Sabra

[hunchentoot-devel] New project heavily relying on Hunchentoot

Hi Everybody! First, I'm sorry for the shameless self-advertisement in this mail, but I though this may interest you. As you may have noticed, I used and looked into hunchentoot quite a bit in the past few weeks. My goal was to end up with a reliable, efficient and easy-to-manage HTTP redirection server. After a few weeks to ensure the stability of the code, I am glad to present to you cl-cheshire-cat, available on github: https://github.com/mentel/cl-cheshire-cat and soon, I hope, via quicklisp too. In Web hosting/development industry, one often ends up with legacy or alternate domain-names onw wants to be redirected to a newer or canonical domain-name. These redirection rules can be as simple as "add "www." to the domain-name" or complex enough to require regex based path rewrite and query-string manipulation. Cheshire cat intends to provide an easy-to-use, lightweight and reliable solution to this problem in order to get rid of boiler plate config files for httpd or nginx in order to put together a few redirections. I must add that the software in its current release is currently in use on our production servers supporting a load of about 50k queries a day on a single server. If you see fit, I'd deeply appreciate a mention in the list of projects using Hunchentoot. Moreover, if you have any question, comment or suggestion, I'd be happy to read and answer them. This is my first sizable open-source project, so there are probably plenty of enhancements to be done. Hi, Mathieu Lemoine kindly fixed several issues that made Hunchentoot fail ungracefully under overload conditions in multi threaded mode. So if you have some time, please clone the git repository, start a simple server like (defparameter *test* (make-instance 'easy-acceptor :port 8080)) (define-easy-handler (root :uri "/") () (setf (content-type*) "text/plain") (sleep 1) (format nil "OK~%")) (start *test*) and use your http load generation tool of choice to hammer the server. Hi, I am currently hitting the problem described in the following thread: http://lists.common-lisp.net/pipermail/tbnl-devel/2009-July/004768.html I'm using SBCL 1.0.58 with hunchentoot 1.2.3 and usocket 0.5.5 (both from quicklisp). I understand the long-term fix will be some hard work. However, in this thread, Hans is referencing a few diff hunks : - http://bknr.net/trac/changeset/4430?format=diff&new=4430 - http://bknr.net/trac/changeset/4434?format=diff&new=4434 - http://bknr.net/trac/changeset/4435?format=diff&new=4435 Since the old trac is not working anymore, could it be possible to either point me toward the equivalent commits in the github repository or the content of these patches. By the way, Peter, if you're still around, did you need to apply only 4435 or both this and 4434 in order to solve the second issue (unbound variable on *acceptor*)? If anybody has information with respect to these issues, including the corresponding bug report in usocket, so I can do some follow up with them, it would be greatly appreciated. Hi I got following variables set before running Hunchentoot (setf hunchentoot:*catch-errors-p* t) (setf hunchentoot:*show-lisp-errors-p* nil) (setf hunchentoot:*log-lisp-errors-p* t) (setf hunchentoot:*show-lisp-backtraces-p* nil) For some reason, when an error happens (or when I explicitly call (error "test")), I still see the whole lisp backtrace printed in the browser. How do I fix this? It looks like make-cooked-message isn't called for every request as well. Thank you, Andrei
