I've decided to place my MacIvory Model 3 up for auction on eBay.
The system, which includes the Symbolics keyboard, three button mouse and
Genera 8.3 distribution CD is housed in a Macintosh Quadra 950.

Not that this is Lisp, but at our recent gathering I was babbling
ineffectually about using the Join Calculus in Lisp. Join Calculus uses
concurrency abstractions that can be (easily) embedded in a functional
programming language. This is why I thought it would make a good fit
for Lisp.
There are a number of papers; most centered around an ML-like
implementation language, but the most accessible (to me at least) is
"Modern Concurrency Abstractions for C". This paper describes a subset
of the Join Calculus that extends C#, and includes many standard
examples of synchronization and communication.

I wish I could've been there. When we first started talking about the date, I really thought I'd be fully recuperated by now <sigh>. Anyway, I look forward to the next gathering.

We had seven people at the Olive Garden tonight. It was a roaring
success and I'm looking forward to future meetings. Everybody here has
something interesting to share, so a presentation-style meeting is
probably next. I'm looking at possible hosting for such an event and
will let you all know when I have a candidate.
http://www.iscblog.info/blog/display/53 will probably appear on Planet
Lisp within an hour or so; it's got a fuzzy picture from the event
taken on my PDA.
Thanks to all who showed up!

<sigh> And I'm not going to be able to make it <frown>. I had hernia surgery on the 24th and I had been expecting to be fully mobile by today but it turns out that this was overly optimistic. I'm still working from home. However, I'm glad that the ball seems to have started rolling and I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next gathering.

The reservation is made under the name Brian, so when you go in, ask
the hostess about that.
See you all there!
