[Gsll-devel] GSLL fast-fourier-transform test woes

Hi Liam, After the fix that, supposedly, would let the test assertions fail reproducibly (but didn't), I just now pushed a new version of example.lisp that should fix the remaining problem. At least, it does so on my computer. I consistently get a number of failed assertions that matches the expected amount that should fail, based on the number of stride > 1 cases. If you find that this works, I would very much like you to check the following: 1. The only real change I made was in the function test-fft-noise, in the section that returns the backward vector. Originally, for gsl > 1.12, you did an elt/ on a (copy backward). I replaced this with a vector/length. I don't understand why you did a copy of backward, so I removed that. Is that correct? 2. Since I have NO idea what happens for gsl <= 1.12 and no fsbv, I just did something which seemed right and removed the map. Is this correct? However, while I don't know what does and doesn't work in this case, I suspect that vector/length should work fine also for gsl <= 1.12 and no fsbv, since it loops over the individual elements. Hi, Has anyone been able to get gsll to work on Snow Leopard? I'm sure most of my problems are due to my lack of CL experience. I did see that it was possible to install gsll using clbuild. Is this still true, and how would I go about doing that? Thanks! -Dave

Hi, status.text still needs updating: CLISP 2.49 on x86_64 (64-bit build): TOTAL: 1350 assertions passed, 21 failed, 13 execution errors. I don't know what "execution errors" are (probably things like FUNCALL: undefined function NIL which I don't know how to reproduce), but I would appreciate bug reports. Some assertion errors should probably not be there: Expected (0.9999999999999997d0 2.0d0 30.0d0) but saw (0.9999999999999999d0 2.0d0 30.0d0) (also, it would be nice to align the expected and actual output). thanks. Hello, I am trying to run the latest GSLL to make sure no crash in CCL. Unfortunately somehow I could not load GSLL at all. My GSLL repo is update-to-date. Dear Liam, I just pulled the latest version of gsll. Apparently you have busy as there are quite a few changes. That is great, keep up the good work! With all the recent e-mail on the test suite I'm wondering how up to date is the status.text file? GSLL's underlying system for generalized array, the "Grid Structured Data" (gsd) has been reorganized. There are some user-visible changes: 1. It is simpler to exchange arrays between foreign libraries, and lisp code. For example, a foreign array may be created in Lisp, passed to GSLL, then passed to another foreign library, then processed once again in Lisp. 2. Grid operations include common array operations for mathematical use, such as row, column, diagonal, transpose, slice and others; these are built on the more general map-grid which in turn is built on map-n-grids, so that more complicated array operations can be defined generically. 3. The function #'grid:copy will copy an array, possibly with a change of grid type ('array to 'foreign-array or vice versa), or other property. 4. Grids types possible at present are CL arrays and foreign arrays. 5. On SBCL, ECL, CCL, Allegro, and Lispworks, foreign-arrays are optionally built using static-vectors (http://gitorious.org/iolib/static-vectors). For foreign arrays made in Lisp (not by foreign libraries), the function cl-array is the same array in Lisp. Note that it is not a copy; the contents of memory are the same. 6. Changes 1. The grid and foreign-array systems both use the grid package; the c-array package doesn't exist any more. 2. All the array-related definitions of GSLL are now in the system foreign-array, including the individual classes such as grid:vector-double-float. To access elements, use grid:gref (gsl:maref has been removed). 3. Internally, foreign-array objects have a slot foreign-metadata. Each application is free to add properties to this list; GSLL adds 'gsll:mpointer and 'gsll:block-data. You should do a fresh pull of both GSLL and GSD. Liam

Hi all, There's a small bug in the instructions on the website for downloading gsll using clbuild. It says that the following line should be added to dependencies: gsll c-array grid cffi trivial-garbage cl-utilities lisp-unit fsbv iterate asdf-system-connections However, c-array and grid are systems, not projects, so they cannot be downloaded. The following line works better: gsll gsd cffi trivial-garbage cl-utilities lisp-unit fsbv iterate asdf-system-connections Thanks! James
