Not sure if this had been announced already, but some people were surprised and/or intrigued when I mentioned it at tonight's meeting. http://www.meetup.com/Toronto-Coding-Dojo/events/calendar/ There is a randori-style coding dojo focused on learning about pair programming, TDD and Clojure. It happens (almost) every Wednesday at 5:30 at the 19th floor of the Toronto Star building at 1 Yonge. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=1+Yonge+St,+Toronto,+ON Tomorrow, we're going to take a look at the Dining Philosophers problem (and by extension, concurrency in Clojure). Since there's a projector, if there's interest I can give a (possibly abridged) talk "Introduction to Sorting Networks". Sorting networks are sorting algorithms where all steps are planned out ahead of time. They have applications in software performance, security, and hardware design. Doug

Creatron Inc. over on College has Raspberry Pis in stock. I managed to snag one earlier today, and it looked like they had five or so more behind the counter (though I'm sure some of them are spoken for). This has been a public service announcement.

Hi, My name is Ian. I attended one of your meetings a couple of years ago. I have an interest in Lispy languages from using Mathematica a lot, which derives a lot of structure from Lisp. I now work for a software company in Toronto, R-squared. We happen to be expanding fast at the moment. The current hiring spree may be drawing to a close, but there are still jobs listed http://www.r2-financial.com/careers/. The framework is .net so lots of C#, but also some Iron Python for customizing the application. So I thought if any of you were looking for another job I would let you know.
